Fat Grafting
Refine Volume.
Improve Asymmetry.
Enhance Your Natural Contours.
Fat grafting, also called fat transfer, is a specialized procedure that uses your body’s own fat to enhance volume, improve shape, or refine results from prior surgeries. Whether used on the face, breasts, or body, fat grafting provides a natural, long-lasting option for subtle correction.
Fat grafting is most commonly used as an adjunct in breast reconstruction following breast cancer treatment. In that context, small, targeted fat transfers can be helpful in addressing contour irregularities or areas of volume deficiency resulting from surgery or radiation. These techniques are carefully applied to improve breast symmetry and achieve a more natural post-reconstruction result.
This procedure is often used in revision surgeries, scar refinement, or to complement other aesthetic procedures. — At Meadowlark Surgical Centre & Cosmetic Clinic, our board-certified Plastic Surgeons perform fat grafting with a focus on artistry, balance, and patient goals — supported by our full Cosmetic Team for optimal skin preparation and healing.
Subtle Enhancement. Gradual Refinement.

You may be a good candidate if you:
Desire natural-looking volume enhancement for the face
Have volume loss due to aging, surgery, or weight fluctuations
Are undergoing revision breast surgery or seeking subtle asymmetry correction
Are undergoing Breast Reconstruction following Breast Cancer
Facial Fat grafting is especially beneficial when paired with skin-smoothing or lifting procedures for comprehensive rejuvenation.

Fat grafting involves three main steps:
Harvesting: Fat is gently removed from a donor area using liposuction.
Purification: The fat is processed to isolate healthy, viable cells.
Injection: The purified fat is carefully injected into the target area using fine cannulas, sculpting volume and shape with precision.
Common treatment areas include:
Breasts — for subtle correction or Breast Reconstruction refinement
Face — to restore fullness in the cheeks, temples, or around the eyes
Body — to fill contour irregularities or soften depressed scars

At Meadowlark, we prepare and support your results with a fully integrated approach that may include:

Downtime is minimal. Most patients experience mild bruising or swelling, with full return to regular activity in a few days. Expect:
Noticeable improvement in shape and volume within 1–2 weeks
Gradual refinement as fat cells integrate
• • Long-lasting results, with a portion of the grafted fat remaining permanently

As with all surgical procedures, fat grafting carries some risks. These may include:
Partial fat resorption (a normal process that may affect volume retention)
Contour irregularities or asymmetry
Fat necrosis (localized firm areas) or oil cysts
Calcification at the injection site
Swelling, bruising, or prolonged inflammation
Minor risk of infection or hematoma at donor or recipient sites
Need for revision or touch-up procedures over time
At Meadowlark, your surgeon and Cosmetic Team work collaboratively to reduce risks and optimize your experience. All pre- and post-surgical care is tailored to your anatomy, goals, and healing process for the safest and most refined result.
