Rhinoplasty/Septorhinoplasty

Refine Shape.
Restore Balance.
Enhance Function.

Rhinoplasty, commonly referred to as a nose job, is one of the most frequently performed procedures in cosmetic plastic surgery. It can refine the shape and proportions of the nose, improve symmetry, enhance breathing, and correct issues related to trauma or congenital structure.

At Meadowlark Surgical Centre & Cosmetic Clinic in Edmonton, board-certified Plastic Surgeons perform rhinoplasty procedures in our fully accredited private facility. Every procedure is carefully tailored to your goals, facial anatomy, and functional needs—supported by a collaborative team that guides your care before, during, and after surgery.

Rhinoplasty, Performed with Precision & Natural Results.

  • You may be a good candidate for rhinoplasty if you:

    • Are looking to refine nasal shape, bridge, tip, or nostril width

    • Have a bump, asymmetry, or proportion concern you’d like to address

    • Have experienced nasal trauma or injury

    • Experience breathing difficulties due to nasal structure

    • Are in good overall health and have realistic expectations

Rhinoplasty can enhance facial harmony, but it’s important to approach the procedure with clear goals, mature expectations, and a desire for improvement, not perfection.

Note: Nasal growth must be complete before surgery. Rhinoplasty is generally recommended after age 15–16 for girls, and slightly later for boys.

  • Your consultation will include a comprehensive discussion of your concerns, facial structure, and desired outcome. Your surgeon will assess the underlying cartilage and bone, skin quality, and facial proportions to determine the best surgical approach.

    There are two primary techniques:

    Closed Rhinoplasty

    • Incisions are made inside the nose, leaving no external scars

    • Used for reshaping the nasal bridge, tip, or correcting minor asymmetry

    Open Rhinoplasty

    • A small incision is made at the columella (base of the nose)

    • Ideal for more complex restructuring or revision cases

    • Scars are well-hidden and typically fade significantly over time

    Surgical refinement may involve:

    • Reducing or reshaping cartilage and bone

    • Narrowing the bridge or nostrils

    • Straightening deviations

    • Augmenting volume with cartilage from the nasal septum or another donor site

The overlying skin and tissue are redraped for a smooth, natural result.

  • Pre-Surgical Skin Optimization

While rhinoplasty focuses on structure, optimal results are supported by skin quality and healing capacity. At Meadowlark, our Cosmetic Team may recommend pre-surgical treatments such as:

    • Microneedling with PRP to enhance collagen and skin tone

    • Sciton BBL or Halo laser to address texture, pore size, or sun damage

    • Medical-grade skincare to strengthen and prepare the nasal skin for surgery and recovery

These treatments are offered in collaboration with your surgeon and are carefully timed for safety and effectiveness.

    • Expect bruising and swelling for 1–2 weeks, particularly around the eyes

    • You’ll wear a nasal splint for the first 5–7 days to support healing

    • Breathing may be temporarily affected by internal swelling

    • Visible results begin to appear in 2–4 weeks, but final refinement takes up to 12 months

If open rhinoplasty is performed, your scar care plan may include:

    • Silicone-based topicals to minimize scarring

    • Laser treatments (if needed) to reduce pigmentation or texture

    • Ongoing monitoring and skin maintenance with our Cosmetic Team

While revision is rare, minor secondary procedures are sometimes needed to fine-tune the final result—an expected possibility with any complex facial surgery.

  • All surgery carries some risk. In rhinoplasty, these may include:

    • Bleeding or hematoma

    • Infection

    • Temporary or persistent swelling or numbness

    • Small visible blood vessels on the skin

    • Breathing changes

    • Need for revision surgery (in about 10% of cases)

These risks will be reviewed during your consultation, and your surgeon will help you understand how to minimize them.

  • Our Approach: Harmony, Collaboration, Excellence

Your nose affects not only your profile—but the balance of your entire face. At Meadowlark, your rhinoplasty is performed within a collaborative framework, ensuring that every step, from surgical precision to post-operative care and scar healing, is managed seamlessly by a team that values both aesthetic excellence and patient trust.
