Scar Revision
Refine Texture.
Minimize Visibility
Restore Confidence
Scar revision is a customized procedure that improves the appearance, texture, or location of an existing scar. Whether your scar resulted from surgery, injury, acne, or skin conditions, our goal is to reduce its visibility and restore your skin’s confidence and comfort.
At Meadowlark Surgical Centre & Cosmetic Clinic, our board-certified Plastic Surgeons work closely with our Cosmetic Team to provide both surgical and non-surgical scar solutions—tailored to your skin tone, texture, and goals.
Personalized Scar Revision Care for Smoother Skin
-
You may be a candidate for scar revision if you:
Have a raised, stretched, discoloured, or indented scar
Experience discomfort, itching, or self-consciousness due to scarring
Have visible scars from surgery, injury, or acne
Are in good overall health with realistic expectations
Your consultation will assess the location, age, depth, and skin characteristics of your scar. Your surgeon will recommend a personalized treatment plan—which may involve excision, laser therapy, or a combination of techniques.
-
Scar revision varies depending on your skin and scar type. Your personalized approach may include:
Surgical excision to remove or reposition the scar
Z-plasty or geometric techniques to reduce tension or align with skin creases
Sciton Halo or BBL® laser to minimize redness, pigmentation, or texture
Microneedling or resurfacing for smoother skin
Some procedures are done in-office with local anesthetic; others may be performed surgically depending on scar size and depth.
-
Every surgical journey at Meadowlark begins with thoughtful preparation. Prior to your procedure, our team will guide you through a personalized plan that supports optimal healing and confidence:
Medical-Grade Skincare: Tailored regimens to strengthen skin barrier function, reduce inflammation, and support even healing. Often includes antioxidants, exfoliants, or targeted hydration.
Laser Pre-Treatment (if appropriate): Halo™ or BBL® laser therapy may be recommended for patients with scarring, textural irregularities, or skin tone concerns. This primes the skin for smoother post-op results.
Collaborative Surgical Planning: Your Plastic Surgeon works closely with our Cosmetic Nurses and Laser Specialists to align timing, skin health, and follow-up care—creating a seamless, team-driven approach.
-
Recovery varies by treatment type, but most patients experience:
Mild swelling, redness, or discomfort for a few days to 1–2 weeks
Visible improvement in the scar over 3–6 months, with full refinement continuing for up to a year
Little to no downtime for non-invasive laser and skincare options
Long-term results can be supported with consistent skincare and laser maintenance.
-
Scar revision is low-risk when performed by experienced professionals, but potential considerations include:
Mild discomfort, redness, or temporary irritation
Changes in pigmentation (especially in deeper skin tones)
Possibility of recurring thick or raised scar tissue (keloid or hypertrophic)
In rare cases, the need for additional revision
Your surgeon will walk you through all risks, benefits, and realistic expectations during your consultation.
