Dr. David Edwards

(M.D., FRCSC)

Dr. David Edwards attended medical school at the University of Alberta, graduating in 1983. He then did a Rotating Internship in Ohio at the St. Thomas Hospital Medical Center. Following this, he completed his training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Alberta, obtaining his Fellowship (FRCSC) in 1988.

Dr. Edwards next undertook a Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship at the Cosmetic Surgery Hospital in Woodbridge Ontario in 1989. He then returned to his hometown of Edmonton, where he began practice in 1989.

He presently practices at the University of Alberta Hospital, the Misericordia Hospital, and the Meadowlark Surgical Centre & Cosmetic Clinic. He is, Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Alberta.

Dr. Edwards is a member of numerous societies, including the Alberta Medical Association, the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons, and MANUS (The Canadian Society for Surgery of the Hand), GAM (The Canadian Microsurgery Society), the Canadian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the Northwest Society of Plastic Surgeons, and Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Dr. Martin J. Giuffre

(B.MS., M.D., F.R.C.S. (C))

Dr. Martin J Giuffre is a graduate of the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta. He received a Bachelor of Medical Science in 1975, MD with Distinction in 1977 and a Plastic Surgery Fellowship (FRCS(C)) in 1981. He did a 6 month teaching fellowship at the University of Alberta Hospital. He began his practice in December 1981. He was appointed Associate Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery in 1984 and Assistant Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery in 2013 at the University Hospital in the Division of Plastic Surgery. He was elected as the President of the Alberta Society of Plastic Surgeons in 1985 and served as President from 1985 until 2005.

He has worked with the AMA (Alberta Medical Association) as the Plastic Surgery Provincial Fee Representative from 1983 until 2007, chaired the AMA negotiating committee with the WCB (Workman's Compensation Board) and works with the Alberta College of Physicians and Surgeons and the WCB as a consultant.

Dr. Giuffre is a Plastic Surgeon in Edmonton, Alberta, a member in good standing of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, the Medical Counsel of Canada, the Alberta College of Physicians and Surgeons, the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the Canadian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. He continues to teach medical students and residents as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Alberta. His non cosmetic practice focuses on reconstruction following trauma (injury), post cancer reconstruction, congenital birth defects and general, breast and hand reconstruction. His reconstructive practice is done at the Royal Alexandra Hospital and the Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton. 


In addition to cosmetic surgery procedures, other ancillary non surgical cosmetic treatments using Botox, Latisse, a variety of fillers, and laser treatments are offered at the facility. All patients are seen in consultation by Dr. Giuffre in his office prior to booking a surgical procedure. The office is adjacent to the surgical facility (#176 Meadowlark Health Centre, Edmonton; 780-428-7737). Patients do not require a physician referral to book a consultation. There is no fee charged for the consultation if the patient has Alberta Health Care coverage. Please note that cosmetic surgical procedures, even with a Physician referral, are not covered under any Provincial health care plan in Canada. There may be circumstances where private insurance carriers will provide assistance.

Dr. Adil Ladak

(M.D., FRCSC)

 

Dr. Adil Ladak graduated from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, in 2003 with a BSc in Medical Sciences. In 2005 he received his Doctor of Medicine from the same institution. Dr. Ladak then embarked on a seven year Plastic Surgery Residency at the University of Alberta’s Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. During this time he received his MSc in Experimental Surgery from the Department of Surgery at the University of Alberta and once his residency was complete, Dr. Ladak became a certified Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada by completing a board certification in Plastic Surgery.

Since he became a fully qualified Fellow of the RCSC, Dr. Ladak has also completed a fellowship in Peripheral Nerve Surgery at the Mayo Clinic, and a fellowship in Aesthetic and Comprehensive Breast Surgery at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Ladak is also a researcher with numerous published articles in his name, and he has presented on plastic and cosmetic Surgery in locations all over the world, including Canada, the United States, Mexico, and Germany.

Dr. Gorman Louie

(M.D., FRCSC)

Dr. Louie attended medical school at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, graduating with distinction in 1980. He did a rotating internship at the Edmonton General Hospital the following year. He completed his specialty training in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Alberta and received his certification in plastic surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 1987.

He was then awarded a McLaughlin Scholarship where he spent two years at the Hospital for Sick Children and Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto, pursuing sub-specialty fellowship training in paediatric and adult craniomaxillofacial trauma. He also completed a fellowship in cosmetic surgery at the Cosmetic Surgery Hospital in Woodbridge, Ontario.

He returned to his native hometown of Edmonton to start clinical practice at the University and the Edmonton General Hospitals in 1991.

Dr. Louie serves on numerous committees and boards, locally and nationally. He has served on the Executive Committee of the Educational Foundation of the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons since 2001, becoming president in 2011. He was a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Examination Board for Plastic Surgery from 2006-2010.

He presently serves as a nucleus member of the specialty Committee in Plastic Surgery for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He is a member of the craniomaxillofacial teaching faculty for the AO North America. In this capacity, he has lectured throughout Canada, the United States, and internationally. He is a member of a number of professional organizations, including the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Canadian Society for Cosmetic (Aesthetic) Surgery.


He currently practices at the University of Alberta and Misericordia Hospitals and at the Meadowlark Surgical Centre & Cosmetic Clinic. His area of expertise is paediatric and adult craniofacial surgery, and primary and secondary reconstruction of craniomaxillofacial trauma. He has a special interest in the application of advanced digital technologies to craniofacial surgery.

Dr. James Wolfli

(M.D., FRCSC)

Dr. James Wolfli graduated from medical school at the University of Calgary. He then moved to Edmonton for his five year specialty training in Plastic Surgery at the University of Alberta, successfully passing his Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons examinations in 2005. From there, Dr. Wolfli spent one year abroad enhancing subspecialty knowledge in Oculoplastics Surgery from Drs. Codner, McCord and Nahai, as well as Breast Surgery from Drs. Namnoum and Elliott, all in Atlanta, Georgia. To further his Breast Reconstruction training, he spent an additional three months in Gent, Belgium with Drs. Blondeel and Hamdi. Dr. Wolfli then began his Plastic Surgery practice in 2006, based out of the Grey Nuns Hospital in Edmonton.

After serving as Plastic Surgery Site Lead at the Grey Nuns for a number of years, he has recently transitioned to Grey Nuns Hospital Chief of Surgery.  Dr. Wolfli is also the current President of the Alberta Society of Plastic Surgery. He remains active within the teaching program at the University of Alberta as an Assistant Clinical Professor. He is an active member of the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Canadian Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Wolfli’s areas of interest continue to be breast reconstruction and facial rejuvenation surgery. He has co-authored a number of peer-reviewed articles on the subjects. With regards to facial rejuvenation, Dr. Wolfli believes in natural appearing outcomes, often with the help of facial fat grafting.

Dr. Korus

(M.D., MPH, FRCSC)

Originally from Edmonton, Dr. Korus completed her medical school and plastic surgery residency training at the University of Alberta.  She subsequently completed sub-specialty training at the University of Western Ontario and at the University of Toronto,  the latter program focusing on reconstructive and aesthetic breast surgery.  Throughout the course of her studies, Dr. Korus also completed a Master’s Degree in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University focusing on assessing and improving surgical outcomes.  In 2014, Dr. Korus was happily recruited back to Edmonton where she is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor with the Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of Alberta.  She has recently joined the Professional Advisory Committee for the Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer Society and is Site Chief of Plastic Surgery at the Grey Nuns Hospital.  She is also actively involved in training medical students and residents and is an advocate for physician well being.

As a result of her training in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, Dr. Korus not only has an eye for what makes a breast aesthetically pleasing, but also has an ability to recognize when deficiencies are present in the breasts in order to properly correct them. Dr. Korus specializes in breast and body surgery with a focus on breast augmentation, breast lift and abdominoplasty.

Dr. Brandon Ball

(M.D., FRCSC)

Dr. Ball was born and raised on a family farm in Central Alberta. He brings a strong work ethic, integrity and compassion into his practice that was learned from an early age growing up on the farm.

Dr. Ball completed his Bachelor of Science Degree and graduated from Medicine (Honors) at the University of Alberta. He completed his Plastic Surgery Residency training at the University of Alberta and completed an Advanced Fellowship training of the Hand and Upper Limb at the University of Western Ontario. Dr. Ball was promptly recruited back to Edmonton by the University of Alberta where his practice resides. He is a Clinical Lecturer with the Division of Plastic Surgery and currently serves as the Medical Director of Meadowlark Surgical & Cosmetic Clinic.

Dr. Joshua DeSerres (B.MSc., M.D., F.R.C.S. (C))

Dr. Joshua DeSerres graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Medical Sciences (BMSc) and a Doctor of Medicine (MD). He then completed a 5-year residency in Plastic Surgery at the University of Alberta (FRCSC). Following his residency Dr. DeSerres went on to complete advanced fellowship training in Adult Craniofacial Surgery focusing on reconstructive and Aesthetic (cosmetic) Facial Surgery at the University of Toronto.

He presently practices at the Royal Alexandra, Grey Nuns and Misericordia Hospitals. His hospital practice includes breast, hand and general reconstruction with a focus on complex facial reconstruction following trauma and reconstruction following skin cancer.

Dr. DeSerres cosmetic practice focuses on aesthetic facial surgery (face lift, rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty), breast (lift, augmentation), body contouring (“mommy makeover”, tummy tuck, liposuction) and more. Using the most up to date techniques, Dr. DeSerres combines his keen eye for aesthetics with his meticulous attention to detail to achieve the best results possible for his patients. His comprehensive consults ensure that each patient’s concerns are thoroughly discussed and understood so that a patient specific plan can be made before proceeding with surgery.

He is a clinical lecturer in the Department of Surgery at the University of Alberta and devotes much of his time to training residents in the Division of Plastic Surgery. Dr. DeSerres has volunteered with Operation Rainbow Canada in China repairing cleft lip and palate deformities as well as the Ukraine Surgical Education and Training Partnership repairing post-traumatic deformities from war injuries.

Dr. DeSerres is a member in good standing with the Alberta Medical Association, the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Alberta Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Canadian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He has presented at numerous national and international meetings on various reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery topics and his research has been published in many well-respected scientific journals.

In his spare time Dr. DeSerres can be found playing hockey, golf, tennis, snowboarding and spending time with his wife and their two young children.
